Today I must tell you about the super mysterious "Eye Stone" in the desert!
When I first heard about this, I thought someone had left alien eyes in the desert, but when I found out more about it, wow, it’s even more exciting than a science fiction movie!
Eye stones are actually a kind of strange stone, mainly hidden in the Gobi Desert of Alxa, Inner Mongolia. When you see it from afar, it really looks like an eye! On each round stone ball, lines of varying depths spread out in circles, just like pupils, irises and whites of eyes. Even the lines on eyelashes are similar, making them look like "big eyes" carved by nature herself. If you look closely, you can see that some of the eye stones have an agate-like luster on their surface, flashing in the sunlight as if they are winking at you, making people wonder: Is this really not placed there as a prank by someone?
Scientists have been pondering how it was formed for a long time. Hundreds of millions of years ago, volcanic eruptions brought out a bunch of minerals. These minerals slowly gathered and crystallized, and after a long period of exposure to wind, sun, and sand, the originally ordinary stone was "polished" into its current appearance. It can be said that each eye stone is a "blind box" of time, and when it is opened, it is a unique surprise.
In the past, when herders were grazing in the desert, they accidentally found these eye stones and thought they were the eyes of gods, used to protect the desert. They would make wishes to the Eye Stone, praying for good weather and strong cattle and sheep. Now, eye stones have become the "top stream" in the circle of strange stone collection, and many people go to the desert specifically to "hunt for treasures". However, I would like to remind everyone that the desert environment is fragile. Treasure hunting is allowed, but do not destroy the ecology, so that these desert eyes can always "see" the magnificent desert scenery!
